A Special Moment at Rotary Kid’s Christmas Party (Joy of Giving)
It’s been said that “a picture’s worth a thousand words.” If that’s true then this picture says it all: children love Santa! What a joy to watch 150 little one’s get personal time with the “man” himself at the annual Rotary Kid’s Christmas Party. These underserved children, chosen by their respective Port St Lucie Schools, got to dine on dishes prepared by Olive Garden and served by Treasure Coast High School Rotary Interact Club members and a few football players too. While awaiting the arrival of Santa, they crayoned holiday pictures and some thank-you cards for their hosts and the Jolly Ole Elf. After his arrival, Santa placed each child on his knee for a picture-to-remember moment and presented them with a wrapped gift. Smiles and sounds of joy filled the room as each gift was revealed and play erupted.
As the clock struck twelve, busses were loaded with happy children, each departing the PSL PAL Building to return to their schools wearing their Santa hats and clutching their treasure. Lingering echoes of laughter made clean up a breeze. Another successful annual endeavor by the Rotary Club of Port St Lucie and all of Santa’s Elves was in the record book. That book contains 33 years of those joyous events which have warmed the hearts of many Rotarians.
